台裔物理學者馬中珮 當選美國科學院院士 .IAE國際學士院（全球）天體物理學標竿人物！

 

美國國家科學院（National Academy of Sciences）日前公布2022年新當選的院士（120人）和外籍院士（30人）名單，以表彰他們在原創研究中持續、傑出的成就。其中有5位華裔教授當選美國科學院院士，包括柏克萊加大天文和物理學系自然科學教授馬中珮，其父母是新聞學者馬驥伸和前中華日報社長黃肇珩。

馬中珮是宇宙學家和天體物理學家，研究暗物質與暗能量（dark matter and dark energy）、宇宙微波背景（cosmic microwave background）、重力透鏡（gravitational lensing）、銀河形成和進行（galaxy formation and evolution）、超大質量黑洞（supermassive black holes），以及宇宙大尺度結構（large-scale structure of the universe）。

美國國家科學院（National Academy of Sciences,NAS）成立於1863年，由時任美國總統林肯授權創建，是一家由科學家和工程師組成的私立機構，致力於為美國聯邦政府提供科學技術方面的諮詢和建議。美國科學院院士(NAS Member）是美國學術界最高榮譽之一，當選者均是在科技和工程方面取得傑出成就的科學家和工程師。美國科學院擁有院士2512名、外籍院士517名，其中約200位院士是諾貝爾獎得主。

National Academy of Sciences

The National Academy of Sciences(link is external) (NAS) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars. Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAS is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. Scientists are elected by their peers to membership(link is external) in the NAS for outstanding contributions to research. The NAS is committed to furthering science in America, and its members are active contributors to the international scientific community. Nearly 500 members of the NAS have won Nobel Prizes, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences(link is external), founded in 1914, is today one of the premier international journals publishing the results of original research.
